Overcoming the Shadows of Inferiority Complex.

A lady looking sad

Rebecca walked into the conference hall timidly, as always. She was dressed in her newly bought, expensive navy blue suit skirt and sky blue Chiffon top.

Despite the outfit's elegance, it did little to boost her self-esteem or give her a sense of belonging. The conference was meant for people with outstanding career achievements, not failures like her, she thought, repeating her mother's harsh words.

Careful not to draw attention to herself, she took a seat at the far end of the hall where she wouldn't be noticed. If it were up to her, she wouldn't be here; she would have stayed at home in the comfort of her room, but her friend Grace insisted she attend the conference with her.

Speaking of which, she looked around the hall for her. As always, Grace was surrounded by a beehive of people, most likely congratulating her on her engagement and promotion.

"Grace seems to have everything working well for her, but not me," Rebecca thought. "She's brilliant, smart, and intelligent. Blessed with a body I could only dream of, and to crown it all, she has a man who worships the ground she walks on. Hmm, that's the direct opposite of who I am; I can never measure up to her," Rebecca thought sadly.

"Comparison doesn't define your worth as a person; it only shows you where to improve."

Sadly, we have a lot of Rebeccas in our society today, cast down and depressed by society's measures of success. They battle with mindsets stemming from bad childhood memories and experiences that have clipped their wings.

The term "Inferiority Complex" is derived from the word "inferior," which means of low quality or poor. That's exactly how many people view themselves: as someone who doesn't measure up or is pitiable. The excuses for such a mindset usually stem from recurring events in their lives or past experiences.
