How To Fight Distraction

Distraction

Per time"Good" can be God's greatest enemy, what might seem good to man may not be God's perfect will for him.

"Someone will say, “I am allowed to do anything.” Yes; but not everything is good for you" 1cor 6:12a gnt

All around us are offers, invitations, gifts, relationships, etc that look like what God has promised and destined for man; they usually appear so good and perfect but on a closer peek, they are all mere distractions from the devil.

Distractions are anything or anyone that takes away one's focus from that which is important and needful to less significant things. More often than not, distractions portray themselves as priorities that they are not. An example of this is the story of Martha and Mary (Luke 10:38-42).

Martha and Mary are sisters of marriageable age, elegant and beautiful to behold; they both possessed unique qualities and are capable of running a home. On this faithful day, they received an important guest: the Master Himself has decided to visit them.

While Martha thought it wise to worry about how to cater to their guest, Mary choose to sit at His feet to listen to His teaching which was a rare opportunity that many are not privileged of having.
And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
BUT ONE THING IS NEEDFUL: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her" Luke 10:41-42.
But One thing is needful...
That which is needful is what the enemy and the system that he has put in place try tirelessly to distract us from; he placed distractions on our path to greatness, they are like tiny shiny pebbles; beautiful and alluring at first sight but at a closer glance, they are brass coated with gold polish.
Who the enemy cannot destroy he distracts; the enemy knows a believer is out of his range of power and control that's why he tries, by all means, to distract them from that which is needful.
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you" Matthew 6:33.
One needful thing is to first seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness. Seek, pursue and strive to attain God's kingdom which is the only eternal gain for believers.
HOW TO FIGHT AGAINST DISTRACTIONs
"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God" Romans 12:2.

Conforming means adjusting or trying to accommodate the new man while holding on to the old man in us. We can't afford to be on the fence; you can't serve God with your lips while your heart is with the devil.

The best way to fight distractions is to be transformed by the renewal of the mind. The transformation from within is what fuels our stand for that which is right and God's will.
Transformation by the renewal of the mind is achieved through constant studying and meditation on the word of God and submitting to the authority of His Spirit.

It's an insult for a believer to be tossed around by the devil through the distractions he placed on their path; seek transformation from God's word!
