6 EFFECTIVE WAYS TO GROW YOUR MINDSET



 

Growth mindset

Several times, I have seen young girls between ages 5-10 put on their mom's cloth, most especially inner-wear. They have a strong desire to do exactly what they have seen their mothers do.

In some way, I have seen boys of the same age range put their legs into their father's shoes or slippers, even trying to sound authoritative like their dad. They try to imitate exactly what their father does.

But guess what, no matter how long a girl of this age wears her mum's inner wears, it can't change the fact that they aren't her size. And no matter how long a boy of that age puts his leg in his dad's shoe or slippers, his leg can never fit in.

Why? They haven't grown to that stage yet.

WHAT IS GROWTH?

Growth is simply the continuous change or increase in your size (physical growth), the way you think (mindset), your lifestyle, and your finances.

Growth is one of the ways to show we are not where or how we were years back. 

According to the definition, there are different types of growth; but for this blog post, we will be looking at:

Growth as regards our Mindset.

For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he- Proverbs 23:7 (KJV)

A man's mindset is as important as living. Research has shown that a sick person who has given up on living and has started to have thoughts of death will continue to deteriorate no matter the quality of health care given to him.

Our thoughts are a reflection of who we are, and it shows in how see and react to situations.

A person with a negative mindset will always see a problem or obstacle in every situation whereas a person with a positive mindset will see every obstacle as a challenge that needs to be defeated to get to his/her destination.

The difference between who you are now and the future you clamor for is Growth which can only happen through when you've undergone the needed Process.

The growth process can be likened to a juice production factory. If you have ever visited a juice factory before you will discover that are segments in which a raw material has to pass through before it Is declared fit for consumption. From the washing and sorting segment to the juice extraction, then straining, filtration and clarification, blending pasteurization, filling, sealing and sterilization, Cooling, labeling, and packing to be transformed from raw material to a finished product which then is beneficial to our body. Likewise, our mind has to undergo some process tor it to yield the desired outcome.

There is a required process to be undergone, you can't grow just by wishing or desiring it.

HOW TO GROW YOUR MINDSET

1. GRATITUDE: The act of appreciation towards every little achievement and setback shows how much you acknowledge the efforts you've put in place to get your result (positive or not). A daily record of you appreciating yourself in a journal for each progress made is important to your mental growth, it helps you focus on the positive lessons In a negative situation.

2. GET RID OF YOUR EXCUSES: Excuses are a huge hindrance to the growth of your mindset. The more you find excuses why you shouldn't or can't achieve an important goal the more you low your chances of growth. Growth doesn't recognize what you don't have but that which you do with what you have, take your time to properly examine your excuses you will realize you were only getting too attached to your comfort zone.

3. BE MINDFUL OF THE COMPANY YOU KEEP: "He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed" Proverbs 13:20, words from the wrong association, an association that supports your mediocrity will further corrupt your mindset and ability to think positively. Discussions from peers form the foundations of beliefs and what we meditate on.

4. READ THE RIGHT BOOKS: consuming the right content especially related to growth will be of immense good.

5. FACE YOUR FEARS: Your fears are a mere result of your illusions, don't allow yourself to be crippled by them. When things that once scared you; have now become a source of motivation that's a sign that you've grown.

6. UNLEARN, LEARN AND RELEARN: one of the things that are known to be constant is change, new things and new and better ways of doing things are discovered each new day. To experience growth in your mindset you have to be flexible, learn new positive things, don't be too rigid and fixed to a particular method. Unlearn, unfollow, and disregard thoughts and people that instigate fear and encourage mediocrity in you. Learn to take on healthy challenges, and learn new things that encourage growth. Relearn whatever value you've forgotten.

You are more than you appear now, give growth a chance!
